Golden Sprint! Nigeria Dominates U18 Women’s 100m at African Championships

Nigeria stormed to its first gold medal at the African U18 & U20 Championships with a commanding 1-2-3 finish in the women’s 100m final, led by rising sprint star Miracle Ezechukwu.

Ezechukwu clinched the gold in 11.88s (-0.4), delivering a powerful performance that underlined her status as one of the continent’s top young talents. Her training partner, Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo, followed closely to claim silver in 11.96s, while Mariam Jegede secured the bronze in 12.20s, completing Nigeria’s clean sweep of the podium.

South Africa’s Oluchi Ndubueze finished just outside the medals in 12.29s.

This golden sprint not only marks a strong start for Team Nigeria in the competition but also highlights the nation's dominance in youth athletics across the continent.
