By Charles Mayuku - Farouk Mohammed scored his first Nigeria Premier Football League goal for Rivers United from a spectacular free kick - but the Pride of Rivers left Jos with nothing in a rescheduled NPFL matchday 11 against Lobi Stars.
The reigning NPFL champions fluid football caught the eye in the first half, the sending off of Sochima Victor for ball handling outside the penalty box in the 26th minute notwithstanding but it took a second half of five goals to separate the sides.
An honourable mention goes to Farouk Mohammed, whose strength, persistence and over all performance was capped with a wonder strike from a free kick to ensure United took the lead in the 64th minute.
Lobi Stars demonstrated why they’ve ruffled a few feathers this season, attacking with pace and purpose down the flanks with Victor Atule to the fore.
Umar Abba drew level for Lobi Stars in the 69th minute before Wasiu Alalade rose highest to head Lobi Stars in front 4 minutes to full time.
Nyima Nwagua seem to have ensured the Stanley Eguma tutored side left Jos with something when he reacted quickest to slot home the equalizer on the dot of 90 minutes but a game that looked like both teams sharing the spoils slipped away completely when Elijah Ani head home a loose ball 6 minutes into added time.
