U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles of Nigeria beat Wasteful Egypt

By Emmanuel Oladele - The Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday defeated Egypt U20 team by 1-0 in the ongoing 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

After a goalless first half, Solomon Agbalaka's thundering header from a corner kick in the 71st minute fired the Flying Eagles Nigeria to their first win in the tournament, having lost their first group game by 1-0 to Senegal on Sunday.

No doubt, the Egyptians dominated the game with good ball possessions and many goalscoring chances, but failed to take their chances and were punished with a 1-0 defeat for being wasteful.

The Nigerian side on the other hand, were lucky to have won the game, as the team has not really improved from what they were in their first game against Senegal.

Nigeria is in group A alongside host Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique. The Flying Eagles are currently second on Group A log with three points, while Senegal leads with 6. Egypt and Mozambique are third and fourth respectively. See Group A current Standings below;

At the end of regulation time, it's Nigeria U20 1-0 Egypt U20, so it ended at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.

Nigeria will face Mozambique in their last group game on Saturday February 25th, for a place in the final 8.
