Super Eagles Striker Scores Two Goals on Premier League Debut

By Olamide Oyetunji - Super Eagles striker Josh Maja was the man on fire on Sunday evening in an English Premier League fixture between Everton and Fulham at Goodison Park.

Nigerians were all over the park for the away team with Olaoluwa Aina, Ademola Lookman, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Maja all starting for Fulham while Super Eagles midfielder Alexander Iwobi could only start from the bench for Everton.

After the first half ended goalless, it was the away side that opened the scoring through Nigerian connection when Super Eagles defender Ola Aina did some quality work down the left and played the ball across goal, where leaving Josh Maja with the rest to convert in the 48th minute.

Five minutes after the hour mark, Harrison Reed tried an effort from range which came off the woodwork, only for it to fall for Josh Maja who was at the right place at the right time to sweep it home for the Londoners.

The game ended 2-0 but it is a dream start for Josh Maja as a Fulham player as he scored two goals on debut in the English top flight and a record held by former Super Eagles forward Efan Ekoku.

The record is 28 years old as Josh Maja couldn't find the third goal to break the record but he still got a mention by Premier League verified Twitter account.
