FC Barcelona were on Thursday night defeated by under-strength Spanish side Levante in Copa Del Rey round of 16 first leg, the game ended 2-1 in favour of the host.
Two early goals from Erick Cabaco and Borja Mayoral in the 4th and the 18th minute respectively put the hope of Barcelona going beyond the round of 16 in doubt. This is the first defeat of the season for Ernesto Valverde's men. Levante also defeated Barcelona towards the end of last season by 5-4 to halt Barcelona unbeaten run and equally prevent Valverde's side from having an unbeaten La Liga season.
The absence of Messi and Suarez could have equally contributed to the loss but FC Barcelona will hope to redeem their image when they face Levante in the second leg.
