CAFCL: Lobi Stars defeated Mamelodi Sundowns in Enugu

2016 CAF Champions League Winners Mamelodi Sundown were defeated on Friday Evening by Lobi Stars of Makurdi at the Nnamadi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

Goals from Yaya Kone and Samuel Mathias gave the Nigeria Champions victory over visiting Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 2016 CAF Champions Leagues Winners stunned the Nigeria Champions in the 38th minute of the game courtesy of  a goal from Liberia International Anthony Laffor as Lobi defence was opened.

In the 45th minute of the first Yaya Kone restored parity to the host from the spot following a wrong handling of Sunday Adetunji in Sundowns' goal area and Yaya Kone beat Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene to restore Lobi Stars' hope of getting to a winning start.
Seven minutes into the second half, 22-year-old Mathias Samuel Martins put Lobi in front to take the pressure off the host, and Solomon Ogbeide side was able to sustain the lead for the remaining game time, after the entire game duration, it Lobi Stars 2-1 Mamelodi Sundowns.
