Pretoria, South Africa — Mamelodi Sundowns will welcome Algerian giants USM Alger to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, 8 November 2026, as the two African champions compete for the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup.
The encounter, scheduled for 15:00 South African time (13:00 GMT), brings together the winners of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Sundowns secured their place after defeating Morocco's AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate in the Champions League final, while USM Alger qualified by overcoming Egyptian side Zamalek 8-7 on penalties following a 1-1 aggregate draw in the Confederation Cup final.
$500,000 prize awaits winners
The 2026 CAF Super Cup carries a total prize fund of $750,000.
The winning team will receive $500,000, while the runners-up will take home $250,000.
CAF says the prize pool represents an increase of more than 130 per cent compared with the amount available in 2022, underlining its efforts to strengthen the commercial value of African club football.
Previous Super Cup successes
Both clubs have previously lifted the prestigious trophy.
Sundowns won their first CAF Super Cup in 2017 after defeating DR Congo's TP Mazembe 1-0.
USM Alger claimed their maiden title in 2023, beating Egyptian giants Al Ahly by the same scoreline.
The two sides have also met twice in CAF competition, during the 2019/20 Champions League group stage. Sundowns won both encounters, recording a 1-0 victory in Algeria before securing a 2-1 home win.
USM Alger target another continental trophy
USM Alger arrive in Pretoria aiming to add another trophy to their continental collection after their successful Confederation Cup campaign.
The Algerian side defeated Zamalek in a dramatic final decided by penalties, securing their second Confederation Cup title.
Sundowns, meanwhile, will be counting on home advantage and their continental experience as they seek to add another Super Cup crown to their history.
With $500,000 and African bragging rights at stake, Sunday's encounter promises a major contest between two of the continent's leading clubs.
