Ibadan — Shooting Stars delivered an emphatic performance to defeat Abia Warriors 4-1 at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday, 1 November 2026, recording their biggest victory of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign so far.
The Oluyole Warriors made a flying start and took the lead through Damilola Akinola, putting the hosts in control of the contest.
Sodiq Ibrahim then took centre stage, scoring twice before half-time to extend Shooting Stars' advantage to 3-0 and leave Abia Warriors with a mountain to climb.
The visitors attempted to fight their way back into the match after the interval and managed to pull a goal back in the 80th minute through Issa Yusuf.
However, Shooting Stars responded by restoring their three-goal cushion, with Issa Yusuf getting on the scoresheet for the hosts to complete a commanding 4-1 victory.
The result was a significant response from the Ibadan-based side after they surrendered a two-goal advantage in their previous league outing against Ikorodu City.
For Abia Warriors, the defeat extended their winless run in the league to five matches, increasing the pressure on the Umuahia-based club to return to winning ways.
Shooting Stars moved into the top half of the NPFL table with 15 points from 10 matches, strengthening their position as they look to build momentum in the campaign.
The Oluyole Warriors will now aim to carry their impressive attacking display into their next fixture, while Abia Warriors must regroup after another disappointing result.
