Ikorodu City denied first away win as Doma United snatch dramatic 2-2 draw

Gombe, Nigeria — Ikorodu City were denied a first away victory of the season after conceding a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Doma United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 11 encounter on Saturday, 31 October 2026.

The Oga Boys looked set to claim all three points after Ujunwa Onyekeche Elijah scored in the 85th minute to give them a 2-1 advantage. However, Doma captain Bitrus Philemon struck deep into added time to rescue a point for the hosts at the Pantami Stadium.

The encounter, played behind closed doors, began with Doma United showing attacking intent. The hosts threatened early through Sadiq Rilwan before Ikorodu City thought they had taken the lead, only for Donald Obiajulu's effort to be ruled out for offside.

Philemon puts Doma United ahead

Doma United eventually broke the deadlock in the 19th minute after Tijjani Azeez was brought down inside the penalty area.

Captain Philemon stepped forward and confidently converted the resulting spot-kick to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.

Ikorodu City responded positively and restored parity five minutes later through Tomiwa Awojobi, who produced an excellent strike from outside the penalty area to beat goalkeeper Emmanuel Adayilo.

Both sides went into the half-time break level at 1-1.

Elijah puts Ikorodu City in front

The second half remained competitive, with both teams creating opportunities as they searched for a decisive goal.

Doma suffered a setback in the 65th minute when midfielder Uche Onwuasoanya was forced off through injury.

Ikorodu City continued to push forward and eventually found the breakthrough in the 85th minute. Ujunwa Onyekeche Elijah displayed excellent individual skill to get past the Doma goalkeeper before calmly finishing to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

The goal appeared to have secured a memorable away victory for the Lagos-based side.

Philemon strikes again in stoppage time

Doma United refused to surrender and committed players forward in search of an equaliser.

Their persistence paid off in the 97th minute when Philemon rose highest to meet a corner kick and headed home his second goal of the afternoon.

The late intervention sparked celebrations among the home side and ensured both teams shared the points after an entertaining contest.

Philemon's brace proved decisive, cancelling out Ikorodu City's late advantage and denying the visitors what would have been an important away triumph.

Ikorodu City turn attention to Inter Lagos

The result means Ikorodu City will have to wait longer for their first away victory of the campaign, despite showing character to recover from an early deficit and take the lead late in the match.

The Oga Boys will now return to Lagos to prepare for their next NPFL fixture against city rivals Inter Lagos on Sunday, 8 November 2026, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Doma United, meanwhile, will travel to Umuahia to face Abia Warriors in their Matchday 12 encounter.
