Aba — Enyimba returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday, 1 November 2026.
Tobi Iyanda scored the decisive goal in the 15th minute to hand the People's Elephant all three points in their Matchday 11 Oriental derby encounter.
Enyimba started brightly and took the initiative early in front of their home supporters. The breakthrough arrived when Obichere made progress down the flank before delivering a low cross into the penalty area, allowing Iyanda to finish and put the hosts ahead.
The home side had an opportunity to extend their advantage five minutes later after a handball in the penalty area resulted in a penalty. However, Ihemekwele's spot-kick was saved by Kun Khalifat goalkeeper Esomchi.
Enyimba continued to create opportunities after the restart, with Ihemekwele having a goal ruled out for offside shortly after the interval.
Obichere and Ganiu also threatened as the hosts searched for a second goal, but Kun Khalifat goalkeeper Esomchi produced important interventions to keep his team in contention.
Kun Khalifat tried to find a way back into the contest, but Enyimba remained disciplined defensively and protected their slender advantage until the final whistle.
The victory provides a timely boost for Enyimba after a difficult run of results and gives the former African champions a positive start to November.
The People's Elephant will now turn their attention to their next league assignment as they seek to build on the home victory.
