Bournemouth defeat Ipswich Town to extend winning streak to eight matches

Ipswich — Bournemouth continued their impressive Premier League form with a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday, November 8, leaving the hosts without a win in their last three league matches.

The visitors took advantage of two costly Ipswich mistakes to establish a two-goal cushion before Jack Clarke's penalty gave the home side hope of rescuing a point.

Brazilian striker Evanilson opened the scoring in the fifth minute after capitalising on a poor attempt by Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton to play out from the back.

Walton received a backpass from captain Dara O'Shea but lost possession under pressure from Evanilson, who calmly rolled the ball into the unguarded net.

Ipswich attempted to respond, with Jaden Philogene and Emersonn seeking opportunities to test Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. However, the visitors maintained their advantage until the interval.

Bournemouth doubled their lead almost immediately after the restart. Evanilson collected possession following an error from Abdoul Ouattara and helped create an opportunity for Ryan Christie, whose effort took deflections off Issa Diop and Leif Davis before entering the net as an own goal.

Ipswich refused to surrender and were handed an opportunity to return to the contest when Lewis Cook fouled Ouattara inside the penalty area.

Clarke stepped forward and converted the spot-kick with 18 minutes remaining, reducing the deficit to 2-1.

The hosts increased their attacking pressure during the closing stages, while Julio Enciso came close with a free-kick that Petrovic pushed over the crossbar.

Despite nine additional minutes, Bournemouth defended their advantage to claim all three points.

The victory marked Bournemouth's eighth consecutive win in all competitions, their longest winning sequence since the 2010/11 season.

For Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil, the defeat was particularly disappointing against his former club, as his team could not recover from the defensive errors that shaped the contest.
