Teddy Teuma scored the only goal of the match shortly after half-time as Malta bounced back from their 1-1 draw with Gibraltar to claim another important three points.
Malta dominate without breakthrough
Malta started brightly and threatened early, with Ilyas Chouaref creating an opportunity for Joseph Mbong inside the opening two minutes.
However, Andorra remained well organised defensively and frustrated the hosts for much of the first half.
Despite Malta enjoying pressure and creating opportunities, neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval, with the score still 0-0 at half-time.
Teuma breaks the deadlock
Malta finally found the decisive goal four minutes after the restart.
Captain Teddy Teuma produced a well-placed finish in the 49th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The goal proved enough to settle the contest as Malta managed the remainder of the match and protected their advantage.
Andorra hit the woodwork
Andorra refused to give up and came close to an equaliser, hitting the woodwork twice during the match.
Malta nevertheless held firm to secure their fourth victory in their last five official matches, with their unbeaten run extending to five games.
Malta close in on Group D1 top spot
The victory moved Malta five points clear of second-placed Gibraltar and six points ahead of Andorra.
With one match remaining, Malta need just a point against Gibraltar in November to guarantee top spot in Group D1.
Match summary
• Malta: Teddy Teuma 49'
