Como, Italy — Former Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has joined Italian club Como 1907 Women following her departure from Mexican side Pachuca, opening a new chapter in her club career after retiring from international football.
The experienced centre-back joins Como as a free agent after spending three years in Mexico. The Italian club confirmed that she joined during the summer transfer window, marking her return to Italian football after previously representing AS Roma in 2020.
Como count on Ohale’s defensive experience
Como’s technical director, Nils Nielsen, welcomed the Nigerian defender, highlighting her experience, defensive positioning, one-on-one marking and aerial ability as qualities that could strengthen the team.
Nielsen also emphasised the value of Ohale’s more than 15 years of international experience with Nigeria, including periods when she served as captain of the Super Falcons.
Ohale expressed her delight at returning to Italy and said she was ready to follow the coach’s instructions and contribute to her new team.
Successful three-year spell in Mexico
Ohale left Pachuca after an accomplished spell in Mexico, where she made 105 appearances across all competitions and scored six goals.
According to Pachuca’s official farewell announcement, she featured in 103 Liga MX Femenil matches and two CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup games. During her time with the club, she helped Pachuca win the Clausura 2025 title and the 2024–25 Campeón de Campeonas trophy.
Her performances in Mexico added to a career that has taken her across several countries, including the United States, Sweden, Spain and Italy.
Five-time WAFCON winner closes Super Falcons chapter
Ohale recently retired from international football after more than 15 years representing Nigeria.
She was part of the Super Falcons side that won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) five times and represented Nigeria at multiple major international tournaments, including four FIFA Women’s World Cups.
Her departure from the national team closes a significant chapter in Nigerian women’s football, although she will continue her professional career at club level.
Fresh challenge in Italian women’s football
The move to Como gives Ohale another opportunity to compete in Europe and bring her experience to a new defensive unit.
Having previously played in Italy with Roma, the Nigerian defender returns to a familiar football environment with the ambition of helping Como achieve its objectives in the Italian women’s top flight.
For Ohale, the next chapter begins in Como, where her experience and leadership will be important assets as she settles into her new surroundings.
