Chișinău, Moldova — Slovakia produced a dominant performance to beat Moldova 4-0 in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday, strengthening their position at the top of Group C3.
David Strelec opened the scoring early before Tomáš Suslov doubled Slovakia’s advantage just before half-time. Dávid Hancko added a third after the break, while a late own goal completed a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
Strelec gives Slovakia perfect start
Slovakia needed just eight minutes to break the deadlock at Stadionul Zimbru.
David Strelec found the net to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage and put Moldova under immediate pressure.
The hosts struggled to respond as Slovakia controlled much of the opening period.
Suslov doubles the lead before half-time
Slovakia continued to threaten as the first half progressed and were rewarded again in the 44th minute.
Tomáš Suslov scored to give Slovakia a 2-0 lead heading into the interval, leaving Moldova with a difficult task after the break.
The result was particularly damaging for Moldova, who had entered the match with renewed confidence after beating Kazakhstan 2-1 away from home on 2 October.
Hancko makes it three
Slovakia maintained their control after the restart and extended their advantage in the 60th minute.
Dávid Hancko scored Slovakia's third goal, effectively putting the outcome beyond Moldova's reach with half an hour still to play.
The visitors continued to dictate possession and territory as Moldova struggled to create a meaningful response.
Slovakia complete emphatic victory
Slovakia eventually secured a 4-0 victory, completing a convincing performance in Chișinău.
The result was confirmed by UEFA and ESPN, with Slovakia recording their second win over Moldova in this Nations League campaign after their 2-0 victory in the opening matchday.

Slovakia strengthen their Group C3 position
The victory strengthens Slovakia's position in Nations League Group C3, while Moldova suffer their second defeat to Slovakia in the competition.
Before Tuesday's match, Moldova had collected four points from their previous three games: a defeat to Slovakia, a draw against the Faroe Islands and a 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan.
Slovakia, meanwhile, had already beaten Moldova 2-0 and Kazakhstan 2-1 before drawing 1-1 with the Faroe Islands.
Moldova face uphill battle
For Moldova, the heavy defeat represents a setback after their encouraging victory in Kazakhstan.
They will now need to respond in their remaining Nations League fixtures, with Kazakhstan and the Faroe Islands still to come in November.
Slovakia, meanwhile, leave Chișinău with a convincing four-goal victory and another important step towards finishing strongly in Group C3.
