Milwaukee Brewers Win First World Series Title in Franchise History

St Petersburg, Florida — The Milwaukee Brewers have made history by winning their first World Series championship, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 in Game 5 to clinch the 2026 Fall Classic by four games to one.

The Brewers secured the historic triumph at Tropicana Field on Wednesday night, 28 October, ending a 57-year wait for a championship since the franchise was established in 1969.

Milwaukee’s victory followed a dominant postseason campaign in which they won 11 of their 13 games, having finished the regular season with a Major League Baseball-leading 103 victories.

Jacob Misiorowski Delivers Championship Performance

Starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski played a crucial role in the decisive game, keeping Tampa Bay scoreless over 5⅔ innings while allowing only two hits and one walk.

The young right-hander struck out two batters before leaving the game with a cramp in his right calf. He received a standing ovation from Brewers supporters as he walked off the field.

Milwaukee’s bullpen maintained the advantage, with closer Trevor Megill recording the final out to seal the championship.

Misiorowski’s performance ensured the Brewers recovered from their dramatic extra-inning defeat in Game 4 and finished the series with a decisive victory.

Cooper Pratt Leads Milwaukee’s Offence

Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt was instrumental in the win, driving in two runs as Milwaukee gradually pulled away from the Rays.

Pratt opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning, bringing home the Brewers’ first run of the night.

Milwaukee extended its lead in the fifth inning when David Hamilton delivered an RBI single to score Pratt, making it 2–0.

The Brewers added two more runs in the sixth. William Contreras hit an RBI double to bring Christian Yelich home before Pratt produced a sacrifice fly that allowed Contreras to score.

The four-run advantage gave Milwaukee control of the contest and left Tampa Bay with a difficult task in the remaining innings.

Pratt also established a World Series rookie record by recording hits in six consecutive at-bats across the series before his sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

William Contreras Named World Series MVP

Catcher William Contreras was named the World Series Most Valuable Player after playing a leading role in Milwaukee’s championship success.

Contreras batted .381 across the five games and recorded four runs batted in, including his important double in the deciding contest.

His contribution extended beyond his hitting, as he helped guide the Brewers’ pitching staff throughout the series.

Outfielder Jackson Chourio also made history, recording 11 hits across the five-game World Series, the most by a player in a series of that length.

Brewers Complete Remarkable Postseason Run

Milwaukee’s championship capped an impressive postseason journey.

After winning 103 games during the regular season, the Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series before sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

They then overcame the Rays in five games to claim the title.

The championship is particularly significant because Milwaukee’s only previous World Series appearance came in 1982, when the Brewers lost to the St Louis Cardinals in seven games.

For manager Pat Murphy and his players, the 2026 triumph represents the culmination of a season defined by consistent performances, strong team spirit and resilience under pressure.

Rays Fall Short Despite Game 4 Fightback

Tampa Bay entered Game 5 hoping to become the first team to recover from a 3–0 deficit and force a sixth game in a World Series.

The Rays had kept their hopes alive with a dramatic 4–3 victory in 12 innings in Game 4, scoring twice in the bottom of the 12th after Milwaukee had moved ahead.

However, the Brewers responded with a disciplined performance in the deciding game, limiting Tampa Bay to a late run in the ninth inning.

The defeat leaves the Rays still searching for their first World Series championship after previous appearances in 2008 and 2020.

Milwaukee Celebrates a Historic Championship

The Brewers’ first World Series title marks a landmark moment for the franchise and its supporters, who have waited decades to see the team crowned champions.

Christian Yelich, one of the club’s key leaders, expressed his excitement about bringing the trophy back to Milwaukee and celebrating with the city’s fans.

The victory also places the 2026 Brewers among the teams that have converted a league-best regular season into a World Series championship.

After 57 years of waiting, Milwaukee can finally celebrate its first title in franchise history.
