KAMPALA, Uganda — Kumasi-born forward Kelvin Boateng Owusu has spoken of his pride after scoring his first goal for the Uganda Cranes.
The Ghanaian-born striker, who has chosen to represent Uganda at international level, described the moment as one he had long anticipated. Owusu emphasised that his primary focus remains on contributing to the team’s success rather than individual milestones.
“I always waited for this moment. Honestly, my target as a player is first to help the team as much as I can, so when we win, we are good to go,” he said.
Owusu’s maiden international goal marks a significant step in his career with the Cranes. Having established himself as a reliable presence in the squad, the striker has worked to adapt to the demands of international football while continuing to develop his game.
His comments reflect a team-first mentality that has been well received within the Uganda setup. Owusu stressed that personal achievements are secondary to collective results, underlining his desire to play a meaningful role in the Cranes’ campaigns.
The goal adds to the growing list of contributions from naturalised and dual-eligible players who have strengthened Uganda’s attacking options in recent years. For Owusu, the strike represents both a personal landmark and further motivation to continue performing at the highest level.
As the Cranes continue their international schedule, the forward will look to build on the milestone and provide consistent threat in the final third. His attitude and work rate have already earned him recognition among teammates and coaching staff.
