Istanbul, Turkey — Galatasaray suffered a 4–1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, after surrendering their first-half lead during a devastating second-half spell at Rams Park.
Aleksey Batrakov put the Turkish side ahead in the 28th minute, but João Cancelo equalised before the interval. Fermín López and Anthony Gordon then scored in quick succession after the restart, before substitute Karim Adeyemi added Barcelona’s fourth to complete the comeback.
The result gave Barcelona their second consecutive victory in the Champions League league phase, while Galatasaray remained without a point after two matches.
Batrakov gives Galatasaray an unexpected lead
Barcelona began on the front foot, creating several opportunities through Dani Olmo, Gordon and Cancelo. Galatasaray goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır was called into action repeatedly to keep the visitors at bay.Despite Barcelona’s early dominance, Galatasaray struck first in the 28th minute. Rafael Leão cut the ball back into the area, allowing Batrakov to arrive and fire home, with his effort taking a deflection off Cancelo on its way into the net.
The home crowd celebrated again shortly afterwards when Barış Alper Yılmaz headed in from a corner, but a VAR review ruled out the goal for offside.
Barcelona continued to push for an equaliser and eventually found it two minutes before half-time. Cancelo finished into the far corner in the 43rd minute to send both teams into the break level at 1–1.
Barcelona strike twice in four minutes
The visitors returned from the interval with renewed intensity and took the lead in the 50th minute. Lamine Yamal delivered an excellent cross from the right, and Fermín López headed the ball into the net to make it 2–1.
Barcelona struck again just three minutes later. Yamal produced a superb piece of skill on the byline before cutting the ball back for Gordon, who finished from close range to extend the visitors’ advantage.
The two quick goals shifted the momentum decisively in Barcelona’s favour, leaving Galatasaray struggling to regain their earlier organisation.
Adeyemi completes the rout
Barcelona continued to exploit spaces in the home defence, and Adeyemi made it 4–1 in the 65th minute.
The substitute collected the ball after a move involving Yamal and Gabriel Jesus, then struck a first-time effort into the net to cap an emphatic attacking display.
Galatasaray made several substitutions in an attempt to change the course of the match, but Barcelona maintained control and created further chances before the final whistle.
Yamal leads Barcelona’s attacking display
Yamal was central to Barcelona’s comeback, providing assists for both Fermín López and Gordon. His creativity and close control helped the visitors turn a difficult away fixture into a convincing victory.
Barcelona’s comeback also extended their winning run across all competitions to 10 matches, according to Flashscore’s match report.
For Galatasaray, the defeat highlighted the cost of failing to maintain their defensive structure after taking the lead. The Turkish champions had moments of promise in the first half but were unable to contain Barcelona’s attacking quality after the break.
Galatasaray face a crucial European response
Galatasaray will next travel to face Lille on 21 October as they seek their first points of the Champions League league phase.
Barcelona, meanwhile, will prepare for a major test against Paris Saint-Germain on 20 October, looking to maintain their perfect start to the competition.
After an encouraging opening half in Istanbul, Galatasaray will need a more consistent performance across the full 90 minutes if they are to revive their European campaign.
