ABA, Nigeria — Enyimba International returned to winning ways with a solid 2-0 victory over Plateau United in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 7 clash on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant took control of the contest through goals from Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Richard Ezinna, securing a valuable three points at home.
Ihemekwele opened the scoring in the 29th minute, giving the hosts a deserved lead before half-time. Enyimba continued to press after the break and doubled their advantage in the 68th minute when Ezinna found the net to put the result beyond doubt.
The win provides a timely boost for Enyimba, who have endured an inconsistent start to the season. The clean sheet and clinical finishing will be particularly encouraging as they look to climb the table.
Plateau United struggled to create clear-cut chances and were unable to find a way back into the match once the second goal went in. The visitors will need to regroup quickly as they seek to improve their results on the road.
For Enyimba, the performance offered signs of greater cohesion and attacking threat. The two goalscorers delivered important contributions, and the defensive unit remained organised throughout.
The People’s Elephant will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, aiming to build on this positive result and gather further momentum in the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.
