OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — Nigerian champions Edo Queens will return to the pitch on Saturday, 24 October 2026, to resume their unfinished WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying final against Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
The match, originally played on 5 September, ended 2-2 after 90 minutes before proceeding directly to a penalty shoot-out, which Edo Queens won 4-1. However, CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football later annulled the shoot-out result, ruling that extra time should have been played in accordance with the competition regulations.
Edo Queens appealed the decision, but the CAF Appeal Board upheld the original ruling on 16 October. The Board confirmed that the final must restart from the beginning of extra time with the score standing at 2-2. Two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played, followed by a penalty shoot-out if the scores remain level. CAF has also ordered that different match officials be appointed for the resumption.
The winner will claim the WAFU-B title and secure the zone’s qualification place for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Edo Queens had celebrated what they believed was a hard-fought triumph in September, while Ampem Darkoa lodged a formal protest that ultimately led to the annulment. The dispute has dragged on for more than a month, leaving the regional qualification ticket unresolved until this weekend’s continuation in Burkina Faso.
Both sides will now prepare for a high-stakes extra-time battle that will finally determine which team advances to the continental stage.
