MINNA, Nigeria — Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Derrick Julu has been invited to the Liberia senior national team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Cape Verde.
The official invitation from the Liberia Football Association will see the shot-stopper join the Lone Star squad for two crucial matches. The first leg is scheduled for 13 November 2026 in Praia, Cape Verde, with the return fixture set for 17 November 2026 in Monrovia, Liberia.
Julu’s call-up follows an outstanding October for the Ikon Allah Boys. The Liberian goalkeeper recorded three clean sheets in four matches, conceding only one goal during that period. His consistent displays and composure between the posts have been instrumental in Niger Tornadoes’ strong recent run of results in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The invitation recognises Julu’s steady performances and growing influence at club level since joining the Minna-based side. He will now look to transfer that form onto the international stage as Liberia pursue qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Niger Tornadoes have congratulated the goalkeeper on the national team selection and wished him success with the Lone Star in the upcoming fixtures.
