Ikenne, Nigeria: The Comoros women’s national team have arrived in Ikenne and begun preparations for their crucial first-leg encounter with Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifiers.
The Comoros delegation has settled into its base ahead of Friday’s meeting at the Remo Stars Stadium, with the visitors using their remaining training sessions to prepare for one of their biggest challenges in the qualifying campaign.
Comoros step up preparations
The island nation arrived in Nigeria on Monday night and began preparations in the Ikenne area ahead of the first leg.
With the match fast approaching, the Comoros technical team will be looking to fine-tune its tactical approach and ensure the players are ready for the two-legged contest against one of Africa’s most successful women’s national teams.
The Super Falcons are ten-time African champions and will enter the tie as favourites, but Comoros will be aiming to make the first leg as competitive as possible and take a positive result into the return fixture.

The Super Falcons will be hoping to establish a strong advantage on home soil before the second leg.
First leg set for Friday
The opening encounter is scheduled for Friday, 9 October, at 6pm at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo. The return leg will follow next Tuesday, with both matches forming a two-legged battle for progression in the Olympic qualifying campaign.
CAF has appointed Rwandan referee Henriette Byukusenge to officiate the first leg, with compatriots Sandrine Murangwa and Regine Mukayiranga serving as assistant referees and Aline Umutoni as the fourth official.
For Nigeria, the tie represents an opportunity to begin rebuilding momentum after a difficult 2026 campaign, while Comoros will be determined to produce a strong performance against the Super Falcons and keep the Olympic qualification race open.
