Chicago, USA — The Chicago Bears claimed a hard-fought 30–24 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday night, with quarterback Caleb Williams producing two touchdown passes to help his team secure an important NFL regular-season win at Soldier Field.
Williams completed 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception, leading Chicago to its fifth victory of the season and bringing New England’s three-game winning streak to an end.
The Patriots fought back throughout the contest, but the Bears held their nerve in the closing stages to seal the result.
Bears make a fast start
Chicago established early control, opening a 10–0 lead in the first quarter through a 43-yard field goal from Cairo Santos and a four-yard touchdown run by D’Andre Swift.
New England responded early in the second quarter when quarterback Drake Maye ran seven yards for a touchdown. Santos then converted another field goal, this time from 31 yards, to restore Chicago’s advantage at 13–7.
The teams exchanged touchdowns in a dramatic finish to the first half. Williams connected with Luther Burden III for a 24-yard touchdown pass, before Maye answered with a spectacular 48-yard scoring pass to Rhamondre Stevenson as time expired.
Santos converted the extra point to leave the Patriots trailing 20–14 at half-time.
Williams and Burden deliver for Chicago
The Bears extended their lead on the opening drive of the second half, with Williams finding Colston Loveland for a 12-yard touchdown to make it 27–14.
New England responded through Maye, who threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Eli Raridon to reduce the deficit and keep the visitors in contention.
Burden was one of Chicago’s standout performers, finishing with four receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. His contribution helped the Bears maintain their offensive threat against a Patriots side that continued to battle.
Maye also delivered an impressive passing display, recording 321 yards and two touchdown passes from 24 completions in 31 attempts. He added a rushing touchdown but was intercepted once.
Santos and Bears defence secure the win
Chicago entered the fourth quarter with a 27–21 advantage, but the closing period remained tense.
Santos kicked a career-best 58-yard field goal with 1 minute and 34 seconds remaining, extending the Bears’ lead to 30–21.
The Patriots refused to give up, as Andy Borregales converted a 47-yard field goal with 37 seconds left to make it 30–24.
New England then attempted an onside kick to regain possession, but Chicago recovered the ball and ran down the remaining time to confirm the victory.
What the result means
The victory improved the Bears’ record to 5–2, strengthening their position in the 2026 NFL season. The Patriots fell to 4–3 after seeing their three-game winning run come to an end.
Williams’ composed performance, Burden’s big-play threat and Chicago’s ability to protect its late lead proved decisive in a contest that remained competitive until the final seconds.
For the Patriots, Maye’s productive outing offered positives, but they were unable to overcome Chicago’s early advantage and finish their comeback.
