Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Poland 1-0 to strengthen Nations League position

Bosnia and Herzegovina secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Poland in Zenica on Monday to strengthen their position in Group B4 of the UEFA Nations League.

The decisive moment came late in the second half when Ivan Bašić converted a penalty in the 84th minute, giving Sergej Barbarez's side another important three points.

Bašić settles tight contest

The match at the Stadion Bilino Polje was goalless at half-time, with neither side able to find a breakthrough.

Poland, led by captain Piotr Zieliński, remained in the contest deep into the second half, but Bosnia and Herzegovina eventually earned a penalty after a foul inside the Polish area.

Bašić stepped up in the 84th minute and confidently converted from the spot to put the hosts ahead.

Poland were unable to find an equaliser during the remaining minutes, as Bosnia and Herzegovina held on for a valuable home victory.

Bosnia climb with another important win

The victory continues Bosnia and Herzegovina's strong run in the Nations League.

They had already drawn 0–0 away to Poland in the opening round of the group before beating Romania 4–2 and drawing 1–1 with Sweden.

The latest victory over Poland therefore gives Barbarez's team another significant result as the group moves towards its final fixtures.

Poland, meanwhile, suffered another defeat after losing 6–0 to Poland?
