Belarus cruise past San Marino to claim first Nations League win

Belarus recorded their first victory of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign with a convincing 4–0 win over San Marino on Saturday, 3 October 2026.

The League C Group 1 encounter was played at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadion in Budapest, where Belarus were officially the home side.

Belarus break through after half-time

The match was goalless at the interval, but Belarus quickly took control after the restart.

Artem Kontsevoy opened the scoring in the 46th minute before Artem Shumanskiy doubled the advantage in the 65th minute.

Max Ebong then made it 3–0 three minutes later, leaving San Marino facing a difficult final quarter of the match.

Kontsevoy completes his brace

Belarus continued to press for more goals and were rewarded again in the 88th minute when Kontsevoy found the net for the second time.

The 4–0 victory gave Belarus a much-needed three points after they had drawn 0–0 away to Finland on 29 September, following a 2–0 defeat by Albania in their opening Group C1 fixture.

Scorers

• Belarus: Artem Kontsevoy 46', 88'; Artem Shumanskiy 65'; Max Ebong 68'

• San Marino: No goals

Belarus back in contention

The result lifted Belarus to four points from three matches in Group C1, while San Marino remained without a point after three defeats.

Belarus will face Finland again on 6 October, with the home side looking to build on their emphatic victory and strengthen their position in the group.
