Al Ahly Captain Mohamed El Shenawy Signs New Contract Until 2028

CAIRO, Egypt — Al Ahly goalkeeper and captain Mohamed El Shenawy has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028.

The 37-year-old, who joined the Egyptian giants from Petrojet in 2016, has agreed terms to extend his stay at the Cairo club by a further two years.

Since arriving at Al Ahly, El Shenawy has established himself as one of the most successful and reliable goalkeepers in African football. He has won 27 titles with the Red Castle, including four CAF Champions League crowns.

In 352 appearances for the club, he has conceded 228 goals and recorded an impressive 183 clean sheets.

The new deal underlines the club’s continued faith in their long-serving captain, who remains a key figure both on the pitch and in the dressing room. El Shenawy’s leadership and consistency have been central to Al Ahly’s domestic and continental dominance over the past decade.

The extension ensures the experienced shot-stopper will remain at the heart of the team as Al Ahly continue their pursuit of further success in the Egyptian Premier League and CAF competitions.
