The Kenyan-born athlete, who represents Bahrain, has now added the steeplechase title to her 10,000m gold. She is also entered in the 5000 metres, scheduled for Monday evening, as she targets a remarkable treble of distance titles.
Yavi’s latest victory underlines her status as one of the world’s leading distance runners. Her Games record further enhances an already outstanding continental record, following previous Asian Games successes in the steeplechase and 1500 metres.
