Spain, champions in 2022, reached the last four with a 1-0 quarter-final win over Brazil. Italy advanced by beating Korea Republic 3-1. The European pairing is a meeting of two former tournament winners.
The second semi-final brings together the defending champions and the side that eliminated Nigeria. DPR Korea beat Canada 2-0 in the quarter-finals and have yet to concede a goal in Poland. Colombia edged the Falconets 1-0 with a stoppage-time winner from Valerin Loboa. The two sides met in the group stage, when DPR Korea won 3-0.
The losers will contest the bronze-medal match on Saturday, 26 September at 17:00 WAT. The final follows on Sunday, 27 September at 17:00 WAT, also in Łódź.
Nigeria’s campaign ended in the quarter-finals, but the Falconets left a mark with a 3-0 victory over England in the round of 16. Attention now turns to whether Spain can reclaim the title, whether Italy can reach a first final in more than a decade, and whether Colombia can halt DPR Korea’s perfect defensive run.
