ŁÓDŹ, Poland — The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will reach its climax on Sunday when Spain face defending champions North Korea in the final at Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź.
The showpiece match is scheduled for 18:00 local time (17:00 WAT) and pits two of the most successful teams in the competition’s history against each other.
Spain arrive in the final unbeaten and in dominant form. David Aznar’s side have won all six of their matches in Poland, scoring 21 goals and conceding just once. They booked their place with a controlled
2-0 semi-final victory over Italy, courtesy of an own goal and a strike from tournament top scorer
Pau Comendador.
North Korea, the 2024 champions, have also looked formidable. They defeated Colombia
3-0 in the other semi-final and remain on course to become the most successful nation in the tournament’s history. The Asian side currently share the record of three titles with Germany and will be aiming for a fourth crown.
Both teams have strong pedigree in the final. Spain lifted the trophy in 2022, while North Korea claimed their most recent title two years ago. This will be Spain’s third appearance in the final and North Korea’s fourth.
The match offers a compelling contrast in styles: Spain’s technical, possession-based approach against North Korea’s well-organised and clinical unit. With both sides having progressed through the tournament with authority, the final is expected to provide a fitting conclusion to the competition in Poland.
The bronze medal match between Italy and Colombia will take place a day earlier on Saturday.
