The Azzurri, under returning coach Roberto Mancini, raced into a 3-0 lead by the 27th minute and never looked back despite playing in rainy conditions at the stadium in Bursa.
Alessandro Bastoni opened the scoring in the ninth minute from a corner. Davide Frattesi doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after Michael Kayode’s shot was parried. Debutant Michael Kayode then made it 3-0 five minutes later with a low finish.
Turkey pulled a goal back early in the second half through Barış Alper Yılmaz in the 47th minute. However, Italy restored their three-goal cushion almost immediately when Pio Esposito headed home in the 50th minute to complete the scoring.
The result marks Mancini’s first victory since returning to the Italy dugout after a 2-0 home defeat to Belgium in their opening fixture. Italy dominated large periods of the match, registering numerous attempts on goal.
Turkey remain without a point after two matches, while Italy move onto three points in Group A1. The comprehensive away win provides a significant boost for the Azzurri as they continue their Nations League campaign.
