The Amedspor forward, who was born to a Nigerian mother and Togolese father, had been the subject of interest from both nations. Togo had sought to cap him, but Orban expressed a clear preference to represent Nigeria.
A senior official confirmed that the administrative issues have now been resolved, making the 24-year-old eligible for selection by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
Orban is currently in fine form. On loan at Turkish side Amedspor from Hoffenheim, he is joint top scorer in the Super Lig with seven goals and two assists this season.
Although he was not available for the current international window and missed Nigeria’s opening AFCON 2027 qualifier against Madagascar, the clearance means he will be eligible for the next international break.
Orban had previously been invited to the Super Eagles squad three years ago but was unable to make his debut due to unresolved paperwork. The latest FIFA decision finally removes that barrier.
The powerful and clinical striker has previously played in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy, and his form in Turkey has strengthened calls for him to be integrated into the national team setup as Nigeria continue their AFCON qualifying campaign.
