OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — Oluwakemi O. Adegbuyi has been named Best Player of the 2026 WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers after a tournament that ended with Edo Queens lifting the trophy.
The No.20 was honoured after Edo Queens beat Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4-1 on penalties in Saturday’s final at the Stade du 4-Août, following a 2-2 draw. The Nigerian champions took Zone B’s only place at the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Adegbuyi arrived in Burkina Faso as one of the new faces in the Edo Queens squad, having joined from FC Robo Queens in August after being named NWFL Player of the Season for 2025/26. She made an immediate mark in Ouagadougou, scoring in the 7-0 opening win over AS Garde Nationale and again in the 3-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas.
Those early contributions set the tone for a campaign in which Edo Queens scored freely, beat hosts USFA 5-1 in the semi-final and then recovered from a group-stage defeat to Ampem Darkoa to win the final from the spot. Organisers cited her consistency, impact and leadership across the competition when awarding the individual prize.
The honour caps a rapid rise for the forward. Within weeks of moving to the reigning Nigerian champions she has added a regional best-player trophy to her domestic award and helped Edo Queens back onto the continental stage. Edo Queens previously won this qualifier in 2024.
Adegbuyi’s prize sits alongside the team’s main objective: qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League. For a player who began the summer as Robo Queens’ standout and finished it as WAFU-B’s best, the Burkina Faso tournament has been a statement of both club and personal progress.
