Ampem Darkoa’s Rose Teye Baah Named Best Goalkeeper of WAFU-B Qualifiers

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso — Rose Teye Baah has been named Best Goalkeeper of the 2026 WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, a personal honour that stood apart from Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ defeat in the final.

The Ghanaian No.1 received the award after a tournament in which Ampem Darkoa reached the decider unbeaten in normal time before losing 4-1 on penalties to Edo Queens following a 2-2 draw at the Stade du 4-Août. Edo Queens took Zone B’s only place at the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Baah was recognised for her consistency and decisive saves across the competition. Ampem Darkoa kept a tight defence through the group stage, winning all three pool matches, and then beat Dynamique FC of Benin 4-1 in the semi-final. They also defeated Edo Queens 2-1 in the groups before the sides met again in Saturday’s final.

The final itself was a test of both keepers. Ampem Darkoa led through a Nyarko brace, including a second-half penalty, before Edo Queens equalised in stoppage time. In the shoot-out Baah could not prevent Edo Queens converting four kicks as her teammates missed their first two attempts.

The individual prize still marks a strong campaign for the Ampem Darkoa captain of the penalty area. Ghana will have no club at the CAF Women’s Champions League for a third successive season, but Baah’s award ensures the runners-up left Ouagadougou with official recognition of their goalkeeping.

Edo Queens collected the team title, Best Player (Oluwakemi Adegbuyi) and Top Scorer (Doosur Anastasia). Baah’s trophy completed the main individual list and underlined that Ampem Darkoa’s run to the final was built as much on organisation at the back as on the goals that carried them there.
