WAREGEM, Belgium — Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem have officially announced the signing of highly-rated Nigerian winger Musa Maliq Omotayo from NPFL side Ikorodu City FC.
The 18-year-old has completed his medicals and been unveiled by the club after Zulte Waregem moved decisively to secure one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents. The deal sees the attacker make the step from the Nigerian top flight to European football.
Omotayo had also attracted interest from major European clubs, including FC Barcelona, who were preparing to offer him a trial this summer. However, Zulte Waregem successfully concluded negotiations and brought the youngster to Belgium ahead of competing clubs. The signing represents a significant coup for Essevee as they continue to invest in young African talent. Omotayo is expected to join the squad and begin his integration into the team’s training and match preparations.At just 18, the winger arrives with a growing reputation from his performances in the NPFL.
