Super Falcons Goalkeeping Options Ahead of World Cup Playoff

CASABLANCA, Morocco — Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has indicated that the team could explore alternative goalkeeping options ahead of Thursday’s crucial FIFA Women’s World Cup playoff against South Africa, following Chiamaka Nnadozie’s difficult campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The three goalkeepers in the current squad are:

  • Chiamaka Nnadozie (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  • Comfort Erhabor (Portsmouth Ladies)
  • Fatima Oloko (Abia Angels)

Nnadozie has been the undisputed first-choice for several years and is a multiple CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year winner. However, she has faced criticism for errors during the WAFCON, including costly moments against Malawi and Cameroon.

Comfort Erhabor stands out as the strongest next option. The Portsmouth keeper has previously impressed in friendlies and is viewed as a reliable deputy with the experience and temperament required for a high-stakes playoff. Fatima Oloko, the sole home-based goalkeeper, remains a longer-term prospect.

Madugu has stressed that the technical team will conduct a full assessment before deciding on the starting XI for the decisive clash with Banyana Banyana.
