MONACO — AS Monaco have offered a mutual termination of midfielder Paul Pogba’s contract as the club looks to end his short and injury-hit spell at the Principality side.
The Ligue 1 club want to finalise the separation by 1 September, allowing the French World Cup winner to find a new club before the summer transfer window closes. The decision now rests with Pogba, who is currently dealing with another injury, but Monaco have already informed his representatives of their position, according to reports from Nice-Matin and Le Parisien.
Pogba joined Monaco on a free transfer last summer after serving a doping ban, signing a two-year deal that was due to run until June 2027. However, persistent fitness problems restricted him to just six appearances and limited minutes. The club had hoped to restore him to full fitness and regular action but concluded that the recovery project has not delivered the expected results.
Talks over an early exit had been ongoing for several weeks. Should Pogba accept the mutual termination, both parties are expected to reach a financial settlement covering the remaining portion of his wages, freeing the 33-year-old to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.
