The South African Football Association (SAFA) has officially appointed the experienced coach as the new head coach of the national team.
Mosimane, one of Africa’s most decorated coaches, returns to the Bafana dugout for a second spell after previously leading the side between 2010 and 2012. His first major assignment will be to guide South Africa through the qualifiers and into the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The appointment comes after Hugo Broos stepped down following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mosimane brings a proven track record of success at club level, including multiple Premier Soccer League titles with Mamelodi Sundowns and consecutive CAF Champions League triumphs with Al Ahly.
SAFA’s decision ends weeks of speculation and positions the highly rated tactician to rebuild and push Bafana Bafana towards continental glory in the coming campaign.
