NFF Directs Super Falcons Technical Crew to Step Down

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has asked members of the Super Falcons technical crew to step down with immediate effect.

The decision was announced by the NFF Executive Committee on Monday following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria’s campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations ended in disappointment. The Super Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Cameroon before losing 2-1 to South Africa in the subsequent play-off. The results mean Nigeria will miss the Women’s World Cup for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 1991.

Head coach Justine Madugu and the rest of the technical staff have been directed to vacate their positions. The NFF has yet to announce replacements or provide further details on the next steps for the national team.

The move comes amid growing scrutiny of the team’s performances and forms part of a broader response to the setbacks suffered in Morocco.
