The Amakhosi will begin their continental campaign from the first preliminary round.
Unlike several higher-ranked clubs that have been granted byes into the second preliminary round, Chiefs must navigate the opening stage of the competition. The first preliminary round draw is scheduled for 6 August 2026 at CAF headquarters in Cairo.
The decision means Chiefs will face an extra two-legged tie as they aim to progress deep into Africa’s secondary club competition.
