The 30-year-old was charged by police last Thursday in connection with an incident at 100 Wardour Street on 6 December 2025. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 September.
According to reports, the confrontation began when a fan approached Toney inside the venue and attempted to put his arm around the player to take a photograph. A witness described the sequence of events: “He walked past a table of a group of lads. One of them recognised him and said, ‘Oh, it’s Ivan Toney’ and tried to put his hands around his neck to get a photo with him. And then Toney has said, ‘Get off me, get off me’.”
The same witness suggested Toney may have feared he was being mugged, noting that the striker was wearing an expensive wristwatch at the time.
Toney has remained on unconditional bail since his arrest shortly after the incident. The charge comes just weeks after he represented England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, where he featured as a substitute in the semi-final against Argentina and started in the third-place play-off victory over France.
The forward joined Al-Ahli from Brentford in a £40 million transfer in August 2024 and has continued his career in the Saudi Pro League. Both Al-Ahli and the Football Association are expected to monitor the legal proceedings closely ahead of the September court date.
