Flourish Sabastine Signs for Portuguese Champions SL Benfica Women

LISBON, Portugal — Nigerian forward Flourish Sabastine has completed a move to SL Benfica Women, the reigning Portuguese women’s league champions, on a three-year contract that runs until 2029, with an option to extend for a further year.

The 21-year-old striker joins the Eagles after a successful spell in Turkey with Fenerbahçe, where she scored 12 goals in 25 appearances last season. Benfica confirmed the signing in an official announcement and video released on Monday.

Rising Nigerian Talent

Sabastine, a former Falconets (Nigeria U-20) international, began her professional career with Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria before moving to Europe with French side Stade de Reims. She later featured for Galatasaray and then Fenerbahçe, where she helped the club win the Turkish Super League title.

Known for her pace, technical ability and eye for goal, the Aba-born attacker becomes the latest Nigerian to join one of Portugal’s biggest clubs as she continues her development in European football.

Sabastine will now aim to make an impact in the Liga BPI and potentially the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Benfica.
