ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — The Ethiopian Football Federation has unveiled a 39-player provisional squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Walias will compete in Group J alongside Senegal, Sudan and Mozambique, with their opening fixtures against Sudan and Senegal on the horizon.
Notably, six players from the U-20 national camp have been included in the provisional list, signalling a blend of youth and experience as Ethiopia prepare for the qualifying campaign.
Goalkeepers Abubeker Nura (Ethiopia Coffee), Firew Getahun (Dire Dawa City), Seid Habtamu (Hawassa City) and Tinsae Markos (Sidama Buna U-20).
Defenders Degifie Alemu and Yared Bayeh (both Sidama Buna), Ramkel James (Ethiopia Coffee), Samuel Yohannes (Adama City), Henok Adugna (Sheger City), Girum Hagos (Mechal), Rohobot Solalo (Negele Arsi), Abduselam Yesouf (Ethiopia Coffee), Tsegaab Gizaw (Hadiya Hossana), Netsanet G/Medhin (Welwalo A-U), Amanuel Terfu (Mechal) and Yared Yemane (Ethio Electric).
Midfielders Habtamu Tekeste (Ethiopia Coffee), Gatuoch Panom (Al-Fahaheel / Kuwait), Habtamu Gulilat (Saint George), Bereket Wolde (Negele Arsi), Dawit Tefera (Negele Arsi), Binyam Belay (Hawassa City) and Kenean Markineh (Al-Arabi / Kuwait).

The provisional squad reflects a strong representation from domestic clubs, with Sidama Buna, Ethiopia Coffee and Sheger City among the most heavily represented sides. A number of players based abroad, including those in Kuwait, have also received call-ups.
Ethiopia will now begin refining the group ahead of their opening Group J fixtures as they look to make a strong start in the race to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
