The Egyptian Pro League held the draw for the 2026-27 season on Wednesday, involving 20 clubs.
Zamalek will begin their title defence against Ittihad of Alexandria at Cairo Stadium on Friday, 21 August, while runners-up Pyramids FC will visit Ghazl El Mahalla the following day.
Al Ahly will open their campaign against ENPPI at Cairo Stadium on Sunday, 23 August. The Cairo giants will first face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Spotify Camp Nou in Spain on 19 August.
The Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek will be played at Cairo Stadium on 11 October in the sixth round. Ahly will then host Pyramids FC at Cairo Stadium on 23 November in the ninth round, while Pyramids will host Zamalek at Air Defence Stadium on 28 December in the 13th round.
The league will pause after the fifth round in mid-September to allow Egypt to prepare for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Egypt will host Angola on 23 September before travelling to face South Sudan four days later.
Taha Ezzat, president of the Egyptian League Competitions Committee, confirmed the first phase of the league will conclude on 20 February, with the second phase beginning on 8 March. The season is scheduled to end on 28 May, although the May fixture list could be adjusted depending on the dates of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup finals.
The competition will again be played in two phases. In the first phase, each of the 20 clubs will play 19 matches in a single-round format. The top six teams will advance to a mini-league to decide the title, while the remaining 14 clubs will compete in a separate group to determine the four relegated teams.
