Coventry City Complete Signing of Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest

COVENTRY, England — Newly promoted Coventry City have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old has joined the Sky Blues in a deal worth around £9 million. Awoniyi becomes one of the key summer additions as Coventry prepare for their return to the Premier League after 25 years away from the top flight.

The forward spent four seasons at the City Ground, scoring 23 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions. He leaves Forest after limited starts last season and will now look to revive his form under Frank Lampard.

Awoniyi has already linked up with his new teammates and is available for Coventry’s Premier League opener against Arsenal on Friday. The move also reunites him with fellow Nigerian Frank Onyeka, who is already part of the Sky Blues squad.

Speaking on his arrival, Awoniyi expressed excitement at the challenge ahead and praised Coventry’s promotion-winning campaign. The club will hope the experienced striker can provide the goals required to help them establish themselves back in the Premier League.
