RABAT, Morocco — Cameroon produced a dramatic semi-final victory over hosts Morocco, winning 3-1 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes to book their place in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.
Cameroon converted three of their four penalties through Marie Ngah, Rose Bella and teenage defender Myriam Nyadjou, while Morocco managed only one successful kick from Hanane Aït El Haj.
The match itself was a tense, tightly contested affair. Neither side was able to break the deadlock across 90 minutes or the additional half-hour, despite Morocco enjoying periods of territorial advantage in front of their home supporters.
The result ends Morocco’s hopes of reaching a third consecutive WAFCON final on home soil. Cameroon, who had previously lost all three of their WAFCON penalty shootouts, finally ended that hoodoo and advanced to face debutants Malawi in Sunday’s final.
The Indomitable Lionesses had already eliminated defending champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals and will now chase a first continental title against a Malawi side that has captivated the tournament with their fairytale run.
