Banda then took over after the break, converting a penalty in the 61st minute before adding a quick second two minutes later. She completed her haul with further strikes in the 88th minute and deep into stoppage time (90+7).
Substitute Eneless Phiri also got on the scoresheet in the 90+3rd minute to complete the rout.
Zambia controlled proceedings throughout, enjoying the majority of possession and creating a host of chances against an Egypt side that struggled to contain the Copper Queens’ pace and movement in attack.
The emphatic victory puts Zambia top of Group C after the first round of fixtures, with a healthy goal difference. Egypt, meanwhile, face an uphill battle to progress from the group.
