Miracle Ezechukwu Narrowly Misses Commonwealth Games 100m Final

GLASGOW, Scotland — Nigerian teenager Miracle Ezechukwu produced a brave performance on her Commonwealth Games debut but narrowly missed out on a place in the women’s 100m final, clocking 11.23 seconds (+0.8) in wet conditions.

The African U-20 champion finished ninth overall in the semi-finals, missing qualification by a single place after placing fourth in her heat.

It was a difficult evening for Team Nigeria’s women’s sprinters. Rosemary Chukwuma pulled up mid-race and limped off the track, while Blessing Ogundiran was unable to start (DNS).

Despite the setbacks, Ezechukwu’s composed run in challenging weather offered positives for the young Nigerian as she gains valuable senior international experience in Glasgow.
