The 19-year-old winger has reached an agreement to join the Spanish giants from RB Leipzig in a deal valued at more than €100 million. Diomande is expected to travel to Madrid this week for medical tests and to finalise a contract running until June 2031.
Rapid Rise
Diomande burst onto the scene during a breakthrough 2025/26 season with Leipzig, recording 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances. His performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all four of Ivory Coast’s matches and helped the Elephants reach the round of 32, further elevated his profile.
Previously, the Abidjan-born attacker progressed through Leganés after developing in the United States. Real Madrid’s late entry into the race for his signature edged out interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and other top European clubs.
Historic Milestone
No Ivorian has previously appeared for Real Madrid’s first team. Diomande’s arrival under returning coach Jose Mourinho marks a significant landmark for both the player and African representation at the club.
The transfer, once completed, will make him the fifth major summer signing for Los Blancos this window.
