The Buccaneers confirmed the arrival of the forward on Sunday, making him the latest addition to head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad ahead of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
Pedersen, born on 8 June 1999 in Elverum, arrives with a strong goalscoring record from Norwegian football. The club described him as a “blonde bomber” and “one-touch finisher rather than a bulldozer,” noting that he has scored 51 goals in his last 117 matches.
He represented Norway at every youth international level from Under-15 through to Under-21, gaining experience across the country’s junior national teams.
The striker becomes the eighth new signing of the current transfer window for the reigning league champions. He will compete for attacking places alongside Evidence Makgopa, Yanela Mbuthuma and Boitumelo Radiopane.
Pedersen described the move as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” saying he was drawn by the size and status of Orlando Pirates after initial reservations about relocating to South Africa.
The South African top flight has long attracted talent from across the globe, with Brazilian, French, Portuguese, Argentine, Uruguayan, Serbian, Chilean and Czech players among those who have featured in the league over the years. Pedersen becomes one of the more recent European additions as the Buccaneers prepare to defend their title and compete on multiple fronts.
He is expected to link up with his new teammates this week ahead of the new season.
