Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered another commanding performance on home soil, defeating Senegal 3-0 in their second international friendly match as preparations continue for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
After edging Senegal 2-1 in the first meeting a few days earlier, the Nigerian women’s national team completed a dominant double-header with an emphatic victory at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
The first half ended goalless despite Nigeria creating several attacking opportunities, but the Super Falcons returned from the break with renewed intensity and completely overwhelmed the Senegalese side.
Joy Omewa opened the scoring in the 49th minute, giving Nigeria the breakthrough their attacking display deserved. The forward continued her brilliant outing by grabbing her second goal of the game in the 56th minute to put the Super Falcons firmly in control.
With Senegal struggling to contain Nigeria’s attacking pressure, six-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala added the third goal in the 66th minute, sealing an impressive victory for the hosts.
The result means the Super Falcons finished the two-match friendly series with back-to-back victories over the Teranga Lionesses, scoring five goals across both games.
Head coach Justin Madugu will be encouraged by the team’s sharp attacking display, defensive solidity, and squad depth as Nigeria intensifies preparations ahead of the upcoming WAFCON tournament in Morocco.
Joy Omewa emerged as the standout performer of the match, while experienced stars like Asisat Oshoala once again showed their quality on the big stage.
The Super Falcons’ dominant display also sends a strong message to their African rivals as the nine-time continental champions continue building momentum ahead of another major international competition.
Nigeria remain one of Africa’s strongest women’s football nations, and performances like this further underline their ambition to reclaim continental glory at WAFCON 2026.
