The experienced defender and captain produced a commanding display throughout the contest, leading by example as the Czech Republic battled South Africa in a high-stakes fixture that could prove decisive in the race for qualification to the knockout stages. FIFA recognized Krejci's influence on the game by awarding him the prestigious Player of the Match honour after the final whistle.
Krejci was a towering presence at the heart of the Czech defence, demonstrating composure, leadership and tactical intelligence whenever South Africa threatened. His ability to organize the backline, win crucial duels and maintain possession under pressure played a significant role in helping the Czech Republic remain competitive throughout the encounter.
According to reports, the Czech skipper completed 46 of his 49 passes, achieving an impressive passing accuracy rate of 94 percent while consistently driving his side forward from deep positions. His all-round contribution earned widespread praise and ultimately convinced FIFA's technical observers that he was the standout performer on the pitch.
The award adds another milestone to what has been a memorable year for Krejci, who was appointed captain of the Czech national team earlier in 2026 ahead of the FIFA World Cup campaign. Since taking over the armband, he has become one of the key figures in Czechia's return to football's biggest stage after a lengthy absence from the tournament.
The result leaves both teams with plenty to play for heading into their final Group A fixtures, but the spotlight after the match belonged firmly to Krejci, whose leadership and consistency earned him FIFA's official recognition.
With the Czech Republic still fighting for progression in the tournament, supporters will hope their captain can continue delivering influential performances as the pressure intensifies in the race for a place in the knockout rounds.
